An actual American writer and documentary maker. She co-wrote and co-produced the documentary, The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil. A documentary about Cuba's artificial Peak-Oil in the early '90ties, caused by the collapse of the USSR. The documentary can be found on YouTube by searching for "cuba peakoil". Cuba went into some difficult years (and by the US import legislation was unable to earn import power by exports) but survived. In her documentary she shows historical what the effects of Peak-Oil are on an economy and on companies and households.
